My husband and I just got back from the most wonderful trip to France. He was a saint and went with me to every art museum we had time to visit in Paris, in Giverny (part of the tour we were on) and even to art galleries in Saint-Malo, which is in Bretagne (Brittany, for those of you whose primary language is English) and villages in Normandy.
I have studied and taught Art History for years, from the Bayeux tapestry to Cathedrals and gargoyles and Rose windows to Early, High and Late Renaissance to Neo-Classicism; Impressionism; Post-impressionism; to Expressionism; Cubism; Dadism; the Fauves; the Bauhaus school; up to Post-Modern Contemporary and Hyperrealism and everything in between....so I was in HEAVEN the entire time we were in France. My heart, and mind, are still there.
Seeing work by Michelangelo; da Vinci's Mona Lisa; spending 5 hours in the Musée d'Orsay, surrounded by the work of Monet, Manet, Van Gogh, Degas, Cezanné, it was incredible.
The people of France are lovely, the countryside and villes and villages; Paris, the City of Light and the center of Art, Fashion and Food for the last 2000 years....c'était magnifique ! I have so much work to catch up on....so many new paintings and ideas in my head, that I can't wait to get started.
I just had to say how thankful I am to have gotten to go on this marvelous, wonderful, incredibly educational and informative trip with my partner in life....and I can't wait to go back again!
